Jazz has always been a work for the minority group.Exterior for the one or two exceptions, the jazz made by creative black musicians accepted by a narrow crowd of people even in the era of the Swing in 30s.But the people who supported and were interested in jazz influenced the majority. The reason for this is that the jazz feeds the popular music of our century. The sounds covering our souls came from jazz and the beat to Western music came from jazz, too. There are different kinds, shapes and styles of jazz.On the one hand there is a very direct connection, which can be proved in detail, between the eras in which those differences were born.In my opinion,if asked, the most fascinating and the most influential thing in jazz music is the evolution of its styles. In history this evolution took place in an integrity of coherence, logic and inevitablity .The styles in the evolution of jazz is same as the baroque, romantism, impressionism or klasisism in the European concert music;videlicet, there is a lot of overlap in the eras and styles mentioned above. The most important three things about jazz in 20s was New Orleans traditional music. From this New Orleans style came four major types of jazz: Boogie-Woogie,Chicago Jazz,Urban Blues, and Society Dance Bands.Generally the development of New Orleans Jazz in Chicago instead of New Orleans is connected with America’s entering to the World War I.The 1920s,known as the “Jazz Age”,were filled with raucous excitement and reckless abandon. It was e period of growth and prosperity for America,as well as a time of shifting social moresfor instance;prohibitions of legal saloons and cabarets were closed. But many Americans were ready to celebrate the new peace at the conclusion of World War I in 1918 and found jazz music the perfect complement. “Hot Jazz” ,blues, and the music from the “Tin Pan Alley” pop songwriting industry created the excitement that America was looking for.By the 1920s,Chicago had become the new center for jazz due to the migration of a large Black popualtion from the South looking for new job opportunities and a beter lifestyle in the North.Along with this migration came the music and musicians that created the New Orleans style of jazz. Now in Chicago, these innovators including pianist/composer Jelly Roll Morton, cornetists Joe “King” Oliver,Freddie Keppard, and Louis Armstrong, soprano sax and clarinet player Sidney Bechet, clarinetist Jimmy Noone, pianist Earl Hines, and trombonist Kid Ory began to gain national recognition through their recordings and popularity in clubs.
