There was a child. It name was Jim Hawkins. This story started a long time ago, in the year 1756, when he was twelve years old. His father owned an inn called The Admiral Benbow. It was a small inn on the south coast of England. The Admiral Benbow wasn’t very busy. They didn’t get many customers. A horse and cart came along the road and stopped outside the inn. An old sailor got down from the cart and came the inn door. The old sailor knocked loudly on the inn door and his father opened it. The man was tall and his face was brown from the sun. His hair was white. It was tied in a tail at the back of his head. He wore an old blue coat. “Bring me a glass of rum.” The sailor said loudly to his father. “Do many people stay here?” The sailor asked his father. “Not many. We always have empty rooms.” His father replied. The sailor told he will stay in the inn for several weeks and he took some money out of his pocket. “Take this money. Tell me when I have spent it all.” Said the sailor. He gave his father four gold coins. “Thank you, sir” said his father. “May I ask your name?” “Call me Captain” said the sailor. “Now, bring my chest and show me my room.” “Jim,” the Captain often said to him. “Jim- look out for a man with one leg. Watch for a man with one leg. Tell me if you see him. Do this and I’ll pay you well.” Winter came and his father fell sick. He was very ill and the doctor came to see him every day. The doctor’s name was Dr. Livesey. He told that Jim’s father didn’t have long to live. Jim and his mother had to look after the inn his father was lieing ill in bed but his father didn’t get much rest. Dr. Livesey was sitting his father one morning when a stranger came to the inn. The doctor was upstairs with his father and mother. Jim was alone downstairs, in the main room of the inn. “Where’s Captain Bill?” the stranger asked. “I don’t know Captain Bill,” Jim replied. The stranger told Jim that he knows Captain Bill is staying and he wants to talk to him. The Captain Bill came into the room. He wasn’t knowing the stranger was there. “Hello, Bill” said the stranger . “Black Dog! What do you want?” said the Captain. “We must talk,” said the Black Dog to the Captain. The stranger told Jim to get them some rum. Jim went into the kitchen to get some rum. Suddenly they started to shout and fight. Then Black Dog escaped. The Captain’s face was a terrible purple colour. He stepped back into the inn and fell on the floor. Jim called Dr. Livesey. The doctor came downstairs from Jim’s father’s room. “We must put him to bed.” The doctor said. Now They had two sick men in the house. Jim looked after them both. But soon there was only one sick man because Jim’s father died suddenly one night.
